The Ladies of AFSCME Council 20 Ensuring the Democratic Process for Local 1653

Washington, DC June 18, 2018On Monday, June 18, 2018 the District’s largest and most political and socially active union, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees District Council 20 and “The Ladies of AFSCME Council 20”, began preparing the Notice for Change in Affiliation letters for the members of Local 1653. Local 1653 was formerly apart of AFSCME Council 26, but recent changes have caused Council 26 to merge with AFSCME Council 20. As apart of that change, Local 1653 members will receive a letter detailing an upcoming secret ballot election to vote on the changing of affiliation.  Federal Staff Sector Rep Makeba Dukes-Gibbs said “Today we’re one step closer to building a powerful Union”.
