District Council 20, AFSCME Endorses Mayor Muriel Bowser For a Second Term

Washington, DC – District Council 20 AFSCME, during a press conference on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM will announce their endorsement of Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Andrew Washington, Executive Director of AFSCME District Council 20 and Robert Hollingsworth, President of AFSCME District Council 20 along with the members of the District Council 20 Executive Board have unanimously agreed to endorse Mayor Bowser. District Council 20 represents over 16,000 District Government, Private Sector, Federal and Virginia state employees.

During her first term Mayor Bowser has championed for family leave, pushed for affordable housing and just recently approved a new collective bargaining agreement for over 12,000 union workers receiving up to 11.5% in a four-year deal.

We look forward to working in conjunction with the Mayor in our combined efforts to continue making Washington, DC a great place to live, work and raise children. It is our hope that during the next 4 years our relationship continues to grow and serve as an example for labor relations across the country.
